Grey-Bruce task force expands mandate from mostly meth to other drugs, substances The Grey Bruce Task Force on Crystal Meth and Other Drugs is expanding its mandate. As part of the expansion, the group, which involves a network of over 30 local partners, has changed its name to the Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy. "We recognize there continues to be crystal met husein the community, so we are not saying we have solved the problem and it is time to move on to something else," Alison Govier, coordinator of the Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy said Friday. "But we are also seeing a trend in polysubstance use -- dependence on more than one substance at a time -- so we feel as a community our efforts are better spent to expand the mandate to include all substances." Debates at high schools called the most important all-candidate sessions of the campaign The Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound federal candidates wrapped up their all-candidates meeting schedules in front of a crowd that included many who won't even be eligible to vote come Monday. But all four candidates agreed their debates held in front of students, like the one at OSCVI on Thursday, have been among some of the most important in advance of Monday's vote. Municipality Sells Land In Business Park To Medical Marijuana Company A medical marijuana production company is setting up shop in Hanover. Hanover council passed a bylaw at a special meeting Tuesday night to sell 3.7 acres in the town's business park to Alternative Medical Solutions Inc., which plans to build a 45,000- to 50,000-square-foot facility to grow medical marijuana. Mayor Kathi Maskell said the company will bring new tax dollars and jobs to town. Officials Say Not A Problem, Students Disagree School officials say that drug and alcohol use doesn't appear to be evident at local schools. But many kids are saying there is a problem. Saugeen District Secondary School's community council has planned a substance abuse information night for the public on Apr. 24 at 7 p.m. at SDSS to address the issue.
