I am not a resident of Asheville, but I have been reading with interest the activities of Asheville City Councilman Carl Mumpower. To me, this gentleman represents the ideal public servant, elected or appointed. He is spending his time and energy in an effort to rid his community of illicit drugs. This should be the aim of all reputable citizens of all communities. I hope that the people of Asheville realize how fortunate they are to have Mumpower as a city councilman and will support and encourage him in his endeavors to make their city a better and safer place to live. Incidentally, I wonder if he would be interested in becoming a candidate for president of the U.S.? James P. Shuford Franklin [end]
