I am writing this letter as a lifetime Quincy resident, Quincy High School Class of 2002, Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, and 10 years-plus strong marijuana user.

This is in response to your Jan. 9 article, "Officials look to add tougher fines for smoking pot in public."

Sixty-eight percent of the vote in Quincy was a "yes" on Question 2.

The people have spoken, and we were not saying we only want weed decriminalized in our homes.

That is exactly what will happen if these local ordinances are passed.
