http://www.mapinc.org/mcod/
1). First, log into the media db

2). Click on the "Media Sources" link

3). You should get this search form

4). We want to get all media 75 miles from LA. So enter 75 for mile, here.

5). Enter "Los Angeles" for the city,

6). and enter "CA" (the abbreviation for the state of California) here.

7). At the bottom of the form, click on "Search". This starts the search.

8). You should see displayed the first 50 of hundreds of results. (In this case, we got over 500 hits.)

You can display the results, 50 at a time.

Let's export e-mails, next.

9). Down at the bottom on each page of search results, you'll see a row of export buttons. These are the different ways you can export (output) just the data you'll need for e-mail and fax programs.

Click on the "Email" button. That will export a list of just E-mail addresses to your browser.

10). Here's what you'll see in your browser.

(Note: Although the browser only displays 50 records at a time, when you export, you get ALL the available data.)

11). Next, let's get the fax numbers for that media list. It is nice to have fax number's sorted by area-code, so let's do that. Go down to the search form (at the bottom of the search results) and select "area code" for the "sort results" pull-down.

12).Again, click on the "Search" button to start the search.

13). As before you will get some results. Go to the bottom of the list of results, and click on the "Fax" export button.

14). And you will see in your browser a list of fax numbers, sorted by area code.
