POLICE OFFICER AMONG THOSE CHARGED IN GROW OP

Eight people have been arrested and charged following an eight-month
police investigation.

The investigation, headed by the Toronto Police Service Professional
Standards Unit and the Toronto Police Service Drug Squad, received
valuable assistance from Peel Regional Police, Hamilton Police Service
and Durham Regional Police Service.

The investigation started following a tip to the Toronto Police
Service Professional Standards Unit.

During the course of the investigation, a grow house in Toronto was
taken down, which yielded 525 marijuana plants. Other property
recovered included cocaine, anabolic steroids, hashish, magic
mushrooms, cash, documentary evidence and a single replica handgun.

John Tewogbade, aged 26, is charged with:

Trafficking in Marijuana, Conspiracy to commit the indictable offence of
trafficking in a controlled substance, Obstruct Peace Officer, Breach of
Trust by Public Officer

Tewogbade is a Toronto Police Service officer with nearly four years'
service. He is a uniform officer from 13 Division. He has been
suspended with pay, according to the provisions of the Police Services
Act.
