LEGALIZING POT IS HIS NUMBER-ONE PRIORITY

Neil Magnuson wants Surrey residents to have access to safe medication,
namely marijuana, which is reportedly useful for some maladies including
glaucoma and treatment for nausea related to chemotherapy.

Magnuson is running for the Marijuana Party in Surrey-Whalley, and for now,
lives out of the back of his van.

Apart from legalizing pot, which he lists as his number-one priority, the
48-year-old carpenter wants people to have "personal autonomy," giving
people the authority to manage their own lives without government
intrusion, referring to marijuana laws.

"The third one would involve an economic strategy that would not involve
spending $630 million, that the Liberals are wanting to spend next year just
to keep people from smoking cannabis," Magnuson said. He maintains $2
billion could be generated annually in B.C. if marijuana was legalized and
sold by the government.
