In a news release, Staff Sgt. Stephen Bodri said young officers in plain clothes have been working on the problem of high school students using drugs in Jackson Park during their school breaks. They busted the teens Thursday. The operation was the third of its kind, which was sparked by complaints to police. Bodri said the officers began watching Jackson Park at 11:48 a.m. when they spied a male with a backpack walking up to a group of four females and another young male. After talking, the teens moved to a garden area. When they began smoking pot, the undercover cops intervened. Two females and the male with the backpack were detained. Both girls were under the age of 18. Small amounts of marijuana were found on them. The teens were delivered to their parents. The male, 18, was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. A search revealed marijuana and an electronic scale. Police said the street value of the drugs was about $320. - --- MAP posted-by: Elaine
