DoD Article Listing Table

Ah, finally, the heart of DoD. This is the area of the screen where you get to choose what you want to process when you want to process it!

The initial (default) state of the Article Listing Table displays a listing of the articles which have been submitted for posting to our Drugnews archive. This area is also used to display results from requests made via the Detailed Sort/Search Bar.

Below is a brief explanation of each column. Please do not try to take it all in at once. Just take a few moments to read through them. You will better understand how they work once you access the live table and click about a bit.

Select Column ( @ )
The first column contains checkboxes. Clicking on an empty checkbox selects that record. Clicking on a selected checkbox deselects that record.

Newshawk Column ( Hawk )
Displays the name of the Newshawk who submitted the article. Clicking this field will display all unprocessed articles by selected hawk.

Subject Column ( Subject )
Displays the subject line of the submitted article. Clicking this field will display the article. Use this if you'd like to check the article out before pulling it.

Source Column ( Source )
Displays the source of the submitted article. Clicking this field will display all unprocessed articles by the selected source.

Type Column ( T )
Displays the source type of the submitted article.

T: type of item, that is the type of items as listed in the dispatch page in the staff room
  • K = known source (at least roboeditor thinks it is known).
  • W = a suspected wire service item (which we generally do not post if we find that the same item has actually been printed in a newspaper that we can post.
  • X = Unknown source items - ones for which roboeditor could not identify the source. These may be - or may not be - valid new sources that need to be added to our source database. Or they may be SPAM.
  • Q = Items for the Q editors. These are items from email addresses that require special attention and that the Q editors who are familiar with the items from that email address know how to handle. There are a variety of reasons that an email address is placed on the Q editor list, much more than I wish to discuss in this message.
  • D = Duplicate, an item that roboeditor suspects is a duplicate based on a match of the first fifty characters and spaces following the last colon ( : ) You will not see the D letter for duplicates without changing other display parameters on the webpage when you go to the URL - because suspected duplicates ARE NOT held on the page to be pulled, but are immediately sent (pushed) to the editor who received the original so that that editor can decide if the item is a duplicate.
Time In Column ( In )
Displays the date/time the submitted article landed @ editor@mapinc.org. Clicking this field will display all unprocessed articles which landed at the selected time.

Sent Column ( Sent )
Displays the date/time the submitted article was sent to an editor. Clicking this field will display all unprocessed articles sent to an editor at the selected time stamp.

Dispatch Status Column ( D )

    Dispatch Status Symbols:
  • * = wildcard, same as "all", show me everything
  • ? = not assigned yet
  • > = pushed
  • < = pulled
  • ! = kicked out after X hours in bag

Posted Column ( Out )
Displays date/time stamp the submitted article was posted to the archives.

The last area (eehah ;) is the Pull Article DropDown Bar!
